Update on PlayStation Network and Qriocity – PlayStation Blog

Update on PSN - Evidently PSN was not only shut down because hackers had created a modded PS3 ROM that turned a regular console into a DevConsole... But also because hackers that we using the Dev Net were busy stealing all your information. Maybe Sony should have spent more time securing their systems and less time focusing on George Hotz's tinkering with the console.

I saw more detailed report here http://www.profusely.me/2011/04/77-million-sony-accounts-compromised.html

Sounds like some new wave. Imagine it happening every month and Sony is doomed

The problem is Sony assumed their platform was completely secure and built no safeguards into their Developer Network once you were logged in. Spoof a login and you have the world at your fingertips. A massive sign that they're #doinITwrong
